Rush Neurobehavioral Center
Rush NeuroBehavioral Center empowers children, teens, and young adults with social, emotional, and learning challenges to build on their strengths and thrive in life and relationships. We live our mission through exceptional service, clinical and educational innovation, and ground-breaking research.
RNBC's popular Parent Support Series is a free community outreach series designed to provide practical advice for supporting any child experiencing social, emotional, behavioral, or learning challenges regardless of diagnosis.
The first topic for the 2014-15 series is "Addressing Issues of Sadness and Depression in Children & Teens" presented by Amanda Weigel, PsyD, Clinical Psychologist at RNBC. Date TBD, please check back soon.
For additional up-to-date information, we welcome you to join our mailing list to receive our bi-monthly eNewsletter, RNBCOnline.
Social Skills Groups offer children and teens the opportunity to learn and refine social skills in a supportive and therapeutic atmosphere. We use a flexible treatment curriculum developed
here at RNBC which includes
non-verbal communication, conversation skills, perspective-taking and social
problem solving skills to name a few. Groups
include direct instruction and facilitated play. All children are engaged on a developmentally
appropriate level while having fun. Once
a child joins a group, we determine goals, monitor progress and meet with
parents twice through the school year to provide feedback. Each child has individual goals tailored to
his/her personal needs.
