Rush's Kidney & Kidney-Pancreas program specializes in providing excellent care for patients seeking pre and post kidney and pancreas transplantation services. For more than 20 years, Rush has been one of the most active transplant centers in the region.

Our highly skilled team is known for handling the most complex patient cases and is committed to caring for high-risk recipients. A team of multi-disciplinary transplant professionals coordinates the efforts of more than 100 other health care professionals at Rush who are involved in the care of each transplant patient.  ​

Not only do we have dedicated clinical staff, but in our commitment to the holistic care of our patients, our transplant team also includes social workers and financial coordinators to help you navigate the social, emotional and financial aspects of undergoing transplantation. ​

Our transplant team specializes in both deceased-donor kidney and pancreas transplantation as well as living donor kidney ​transplantation.


Edward F. Hollinger, MD, ​is the Surgical Director of the kidney transplant program. He specializes in kidney, liver, and pancreas transplants, laparscopic donor nephrectomy, liver cancer, liver surgery, and vascular access surgery 


Stephen Jensik, MD, specializes in kidney transplant and vascular access surgery. He completed his fellowship in transplant surgery at the University of Minnesota Medical Center


Oyedolamu Olaitan, MD, is the Surgical Director of the Kidney-Pancreas and Pancreas Transplant Program. His clinical expertise includes dialysis access surgery, donor nephrectomy, kidney transplantation, pancreas transplantation, pancreas-kidney transplantation, liver transplant, vascular access surgery, laparoscopy, liver cancer, nephrectomy, and urologic problems-transplant related. 

Erik Schadde, MD, FACS ​specializes in kidney transplantation. Dr. Schadde is heavily invovled in research at Rush, areas of intereste include salvage liver resections, ALPPS, rapid liver hypertrophy, and animal models of rapid liver regeneration​. ​
